In Good Hands is a short film about Dr. Diana Asante, a pediatric emergency physician dealing with the challenges of the last patients of her shift, patients from very different worlds: a white boy who has never seen a Black female doctor and an African American teenager arrested by an unsympathetic officer and facing possibly dire medical issues.

Based on the memoir of Dr. Sylvia Owusu-Ansah, the script was written by former Pitt student Yasmine Crawley and produced as part of the PITTch Storytelling Initiative under the direction of Carl Kurlander, founding producer of C4C: The Pittsburgh Lens.

This community teaching film was made with the participation of a diverse group of over three dozen mentoring film professionals, Pitt students, and community members.

These special screening events will include a panel following the film. Refreshments will be provided.

Driven to create more positive portrayals of immigrants, Haji learned his craft as part of a youth and media program at the Manchester Craftsmen's Guild while attending Allderdice High School. In addition to his camera work, Haji has created, co-written, and directed the web series The Kid following a fictionalized high school immigrant living with a host family.
